The nomination for elected Party was extremely competitive. After a long tie-up Democratic candidate William Jennings Bryan threw his apply behind Woodrow Wilson in holy order to whacking Missouri Representative Champ Clark. Woodrow Wilson, former President of Princeton University and regulator of New Jersey, won the Democratic nomination after support for Clark faded.
